Wits VIDA is looking for a motivated and skilled Fieldworker to support their research efforts in community settings. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth execution of research projects and maintaining the integrity of data collection processes.
The Fieldworker will be responsible for fostering strong, positive relationships with community members, which is crucial for the successful engagement and participation of study subjects. Building a relationship of trust and respect with participants is a key aspect of this role, ensuring that participants feel comfortable and are willing to engage fully with the study.
A significant part of the job involves ensuring that all consent forms are accurately completed and signed by all involved parties. This process is critical for ethical compliance and to ensure that participants are fully informed about the study.
The Fieldworker will utilize electronic methods for data collection, which requires proficiency in managing digital tools and systems to ensure accurate data entry. Administering study questionnaires and ensuring the precision of collected data are primary responsibilities. The Fieldworker must be diligent in verifying the accuracy of the data to maintain the quality and reliability of the research outcomes.
In addition to data collection, the Fieldworker will be tasked with tracing study participants who may have become difficult to reach. This involves employing various strategies to maintain participant engagement throughout the study period.
Supporting the Team Leader is also a crucial aspect of this role. The Fieldworker will assist in ensuring that scheduled tasks are completed efficiently and that high-quality data is consistently collected. This includes meeting deadlines and demonstrating effective self-management to ensure that all responsibilities are handled in a timely and organized manner.
The Fieldworker will be required to provide detailed data collection statistics and reports, contributing to the overall monitoring and evaluation of the research project. This involves maintaining a focus on task orientation and delivering accurate, comprehensive reports as needed.
Overall, the ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards in data accuracy and participant interaction. The role demands a proactive and diligent approach to ensure the successful execution of research objectives and the integrity of the study.
Required minimum education and training:
- Grade 12
- Basic Counselling Certificate
Required minimum work experience:
- Minimum 1 years of work experience in a Research environment
- Normal working hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 08h30 to 17h00
