As a data capturer at Anova Health Institution, your primary responsibility is to accurately input, manage, and maintain electronic data related to patient information, medical records, or research data. Your role is crucial in ensuring the integrity and reliability of data that forms the basis of critical healthcare decisions and research outcomes.
Your day-to-day tasks may include:
Data Entry: Inputting patient demographics, medical histories, treatment details, laboratory results, and other relevant information into electronic databases or information systems.
Quality Assurance: Reviewing data for completeness, accuracy, and consistency to identify and rectify any discrepancies or errors. This may involve cross-referencing data with source documents and verifying information with healthcare providers or researchers.
Data Management: Organizing and maintaining electronic databases, ensuring data is appropriately stored, categorized, and accessible for analysis or reporting purposes. This may involve creating data entry templates, updating records, and implementing data security protocols to protect sensitive information.
Reporting: Generating routine or ad-hoc reports based on collected data, summarizing key findings or trends for healthcare professionals, administrators, or researchers. You may also assist in preparing presentations or publications that communicate research outcomes or healthcare insights derived from the data.
Communication: Collaborating with healthcare providers, research teams, and administrative staff to ensure data capture processes align with organizational requirements and objectives. You may need to communicate effectively to clarify data entry guidelines, resolve queries, or address any issues related to data quality or integrity.
Compliance: Adhering to relevant data privacy regulations, ethical standards, and institutional policies governing the collection, use, and disclosure of patient or research data. This includes maintaining confidentiality, obtaining necessary consent for data collection, and following best practices for data handling and storage.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience required for this post includes the following:
- Grade 12
- A minimum of years’ experience using TIER.Net.
- A minimum of two years experience in data capturing or collection, either within a health systems research environment or the public health system.
- Capability to handle pressure and adhere to deadlines.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Proficiency in both written and verbal communication, including report writing.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and other South African Official Languages.
- Competency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Holding a tertiary qualification would be advantageous.
