About the Post
The Department of Human Settlements is currently seeking a dedicated Administrative Support and Co-ordination Officer to enhance the efficiency of its executive operations. This pivotal role is designed for an individual who can manage and streamline the administrative functions and co-ordination activities within the office of the executive authority. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the department by handling a variety of tasks that support the executive team.
Key responsibilities for this position include managing both administrative and co-ordination activities to ensure the office operates effectively. The officer will be required to liaise with internal and external stakeholders, addressing matters related to the executive authority’s portfolio. This involves facilitating communication and collaboration between various parties to support the department’s strategic objectives and operational needs.
In addition to these tasks, the Administrative Support and Co-ordination Officer will provide Cabinet and executive council support services. This responsibility entails preparing necessary documentation, coordinating meetings, and ensuring that all administrative aspects of these high-level engagements are handled with precision and professionalism. The role is integral to maintaining the executive authority’s focus on its core functions and responsibilities.
Furthermore, the successful candidate will oversee a team of employees, ensuring that their work aligns with the department’s goals and contributes to an efficient working environment. Supervisory duties will involve guiding, mentoring, and managing staff to foster a productive and collaborative workplace. Overall, this role is essential for supporting the executive authority and ensuring the department’s operations are carried out effectively and efficiently.
Requirements:
- Matric/ Grade 12 or equivalent
- Undergraduate diploma/ degree in Public Administration/ Management or any other relevant qualification (NQF level 6/7 as recognized by SAQA).
- 3 – 5 years’ experience at entry level management (ASD/ Middle management level).
- Knowledge of Ministry operations will be an added advantage.
- Computer Literacy as well as good communication skills (both written and verbal) is essential.
- Broad knowledge and understanding of the functional areas covered by the Minister’s portfolio.
- Working knowledge of the political and parliamentary process in South Africa.
- Proven Policy analysis and development experience.
